For One Night Only: The Overlook Comes to Chattanooga

Join Hello Huntsville Horror on December 13th at the historic Read House Hotel as we gather in its Bar and Billiards Lounge, nodding to the Gold Room from The Shining, for one unforgettable evening. We’ll start at five o’clock with a 1920s-style cocktail hour in this beautifully restored lounge, and then see why the Read House Hotel is the South’s Overlook. 

The iconic Read House Hotel is the longest continuously operating hotel in the Southeast. Among its many secrets is Room 311, known as the hotel’s own “Room 237.” Just like the infamous room in The Shining, Room 311 holds the legend of a woman who met a tragic end in the bathtub and is said to still linger there. You’ll have the chance to explore this haunted room. There’s also a local legend that famous gangster, Al Capone, stayed in room 311 during his federal trial. Security bars were placed on the window so that he would not escape the feds. They were removed during renovation in 2004…

After our time at the Read House, we’ll travel to one of the nation’s most incredible theaters, the Chattanooga Aquarium IMAX. At 7:45 you can witness ‘The Shining’, released on IMAX for the very first time. With a colossal 66-foot screen and dual 4K laser projection, this theater offers a film experience truly worth the drive.
